All June at C&P Coffee in West Seattle, 12 new works on canvas and wood panel will be on view and available for purchase.

These works are inspired by the sounds and motion we just barely catch as we walk in nature. Sometimes I’m sharing specific impressions of a Scrub Jay visiting my balcony, sometimes the memory of a fleeting glimpse of creatures moving too fast to be seen. I love painting nature realistically when inspired to do so, but abstract work gives form to the experience of tapping into my own nature and instinct to work instinctually with color and composition.

Memory comes into play as our indistinct impressions shift into different sensory experiences. A sound can mix with a color, or a smell, moving air, the gravel underfoot. Our changing environment also makes these experiences precious, as we may lose more of these creatures and the forests they inhabit.

You can purchase pieces from C&P in cash, or contact me for card transactions. I’m happy to meet with you at the shop to talk over pieces and arrange sales too! Hope to see you there.
